Beginners’ Course 1: Breathing & Finding Neutral
In this first class of our beginners pilates series I teach what neutral position is and how to breathe in Pilates.
Pilates is for everyone! This is the start, where it will take you is up to you.
Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by a guy called Joseph Pilates, which is where the name comes from – he called it “Contrology”.
Pilates is practiced worldwide, and encompasses ideas, notions and principles to promote both physical and mental conditioning to benefit both your physical and mental health.
Over my 15+ years of Pilates Instruction and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy practices, I’ve developed my own version of Pilates: Jess Coveley Pilates, and I invite you follow my free Beginners’ Course and open your mind to a physically and mentally more agile, happier and more energy-filled life.
In this first class of our beginners pilates series I teach what neutral position is and how to breathe in Pilates.
This second beginners tutorial focuses on finding and engaging your core muscles.
In the third of the series I focus on spinal movement and segmental control.
In this fourth class we look at the positions of your neck and shoulders plus movement and control the the upper back.
The fifth of the beginners series looks at lower body positioning and alignment of the pelvis to optimise back health.
The sixth and final tutorial looks at posture in standing as well as coordinating movements.
